Fishing and Hunting Photography

What follows in the two image galleries below is a tiny sliver of the visual experiences produced over a nearly 35 year career with Bass Pro Shops.

In 1986 I came to Southwest Missouri for a photography position and ended up with an education in the fishing and hunting industry as a bonus. Since my beginnings here I have had the opportunity to fish and hunt all over the country in my capacity as a photographer.

As far as the fishing goes I think the photography is as much about showing places that people see and WANT to go fish as much as it is showing pictures of fish.

After working from Alaska to the Caribbean I can honestly say that in this part of my life there’s no place I would rather be than at home with family in Southwest Missouri.

My life has been like an oversized landscape painting that was Rich in Color and Texture but with Sound and Heat and Cold and Rain and Wind and Weary Joints and all of the other components of a Life Well Lived!

Shooting Gallery

It was I think about 2010 that I made my first trip to Alaska, not for work, but with a few guys I worked with. We lived in tents, slept on the ground right by the river and fished nonstop for 6 days. I`ve been back several times since but among the things I learned from my first trip up was how to carry a handgun while on the river. Nobody really wants to shoot a bear but we actually want to be eaten by one even less. I got home from that trip determined to find a convenient, comfortable way to carry my revolver high out of the water and out of my way while fishing. This led to starting a holster company that grew into a nice part time business after I retired. It dovetailed nicely with the shooting related photography I did at work with Bass Pro. The Whitetail Chest Holster expanded into a wider selection of holsters for concealed carry, multi tool carriers, bear spray carriers and so on. Below is a selection of those photos.
